Alright y'all almost caught up with the Blog Everyday in May Challenge! Here goes day 7 and 8!
Day 7: What thing(s) your most afraid of
I'm not too creative when it comes to things that scare me and pretty much keep it generic with spiders and bad guys... yep you read that... bad guys. Living alone definitely has its perks but also leaves a lot of room for my mind to play tricks on me and there are times I have been in bed, covers pulled over my head, and convinced someone is going to break into my house. This is pure ridiculous being that I have a locked entry for my building and even so, several locks on my door... you can never be too safe. I even used to keep a knife in my bedside table... like I said y'all... its a little ridiculous. As for spiders... I'm not super scared of them but I would definitely prefer them to not be anywhere near me. Other then those two things, there are not a lot of things that freak me out or frighten me.
Day 8: A piece of advice you have
I thought about this one for a long time. I am no expert on life or any part of it so I don't feel entirely equipped to doll out advice on everything but if there is one thing that I would tell people its... don't take yourself too seriously. People get so caught up in the different stresses of every day life that they are missing important moments right in front of them. It's important to not take yourself too seriously and realize that as humans we all make mistakes and while at the time, something may appear to be the end of the world when in reality its something so minor that we wont even remember a year from now. While I do realize there are true life tragedies and things that warrant stressing and grief and all those emotions that go long, I do also believe it is in those moments we need to stop and breathe.
Don't stress that it's Wednesday and you still haven't gone grocery shopping or that the laundry still isn't folded or even that you haven't shaved your legs in over 3 days... ok maybe do stress over that. Look at what's important in life and even in that moment and go from there, maybe you didn't go grocery shopping because you stayed at work late to help out a coworker and your laundry's not folded... well because maybe you just didn't feel like it yet... it's all going to be ok and life will go on.
This lady definitely doesn't take herself to seriously!
Woo Hoo for being all caught up with the challenge! Stay tuned over the next few days to see more fun topics!
Now for my next announcement... this girl is going on a budget. And no I don't mean just one that I forget in a few days...I mean a serious NO shopping in May. A few days ago I posted about my trip to TJ Maxx and while I love all my new fun goodies... that combined with my outlet extravaganza a few weeks ago has left me absolutely broke. I'm not exactly sure who I though I was spending all that money but I am determined to make a change this month. Here are some goals I have in mind...
- No shopping. I have enough clothes, especially after my two shopping trips that I do not need to go shopping again for a LONG time. I am going to add one exception to this rule and before you go calling me a cheater... here me out. At the end of the month I will be traveling down to Charlotte for the first time in a long time and while I would love to say I won't do any shopping while I'm down there... that would be a bold face lie. Combine seeing old friends I haven't seen in a long time that love to shop with all of my favorite areas in Charlotte and this girl is going to have one heck of a good time.
- Continue to cook and not eat out. I am super good about cooking and actually have stretched my groceries from last week into this week and aside from needing just a few basics, I should be able to keep my grocery bill for this month under $20.
- Limit trips to the coffee shop at work. While I don't spend a ton of money here because my normal is a Kind bar and regular coffee, I'm sure there are days when I could easily suck it up and forgo my afternoon pick me up.
- No random trips to Target or Walgreens. Y'all last week I went into Walgreens to pick up shampoo and somehow left spending close to $50! No more this month. The only time I will be going is to pick up any necessities but that will be it.
- No using my credit card unless its an absolute emergency. For this month, I have taken my credit card out of my wallet so that I will not even be tempted to use it.
(Story of my life)
Anyone have any good budgeting strategies?
Yours truly,

$20 for the month on groceries! I need a post on THAT! Teach me your ways!! Moving has been my best budgeting tool- I don't want one more thing to fit into a box or POD. Good luck and keep us posted- that extra accountability can't hurt with sticking to it either :)
