High Five for Friday

Today I'm changing it up a bit and linking up for

1. Homemade lettuce wraps that easily could compare to P.F Changs
2. A shot pre-tornado from my balcony
3. Corduroy enjoying Lady & The Tramp
4. Fresh fruit for the week
5. Love how crafty my mom is- turned a rake into a necklace display
Hope everyone had a great week!

A Trip To The Dermatologist

Guessing by the title of today's post, I'm sure you can guess where I headed this morning for a 9 o'clock appointment... thats right- the dermatologist! I made this appointment a few weeks ago hoping to get some advice on getting my skin clearer and to a more even complexion. Let me preface by saying I don't have horrible skin by any means and I think the doctor was a bit confused by my visit in general but she was very helpful none the less! Heres a recrap of how my appointment went and also some new products I will be trying over the coarse of the next few weeks/months.

Prior to my visit I used Aveeno Foaming Cleanser
I was extremely happy when the doctor said I could continue to use this cleanser AND that it's often one she recommends people to use.

I also had been using the Oil of Olay exfoliating brush every other day
This the doctor said to nix, as it could actually be causing more harm to my skin then good

New products:
So I know this is totally weird and I promise I was just as leery but she said that Head and Shoulders is a great cleanser for not only your face but for your body! Being someone that works out, I am always looking for a new body wash that will leave me feeling sweat free and clean before I get into bed.

Next she gave me a perscription for Retin-A. (The above product is the generic brand) While Im excited to try this product, Im also extremely nervous and have heard mixed reviews. Anyone out there a retin-a user and have any advice? The doctor told me to apply a pea sized amount before bed, twice a week.

Next she prescribed Clindamycin which I am to use in the morning underneath my moisturizer, sunscreen, and makeup. Im not too familiar with this product but would love to hear if others have tried it!

So there you have it! I will definitely be letting everyone know how the next few days go!

Em

Birthday Dress

One of the updates I purposefully left out yesterday was that a few weeks ago I ordered my birthday dress! (Yes I ordered a dress especially for my birthday even though there's nothing exciting about getting older) I saw the dress online through Urban Outfitters and loved it and decided to swing by the store here in Richmond to see  if I could try one on. I got lucky and found the dress and ended up ordered it online that night! (It was on sale online and free shipping- GREAT DEAL!) My birthday isn't for another couple weeks but I absolutely LOVED the dress and couldn't imagine passing it up! I have yet to figure out how I want to accessorize it but would input from others!

accessories

Jimmy choo heels, £435
Cheeky Budha clutch handbag, £14
J Crew statement necklace, $150
J Crew oversized jewelry, $118
Gorjana 18k jewelry, $35

I love the idea of adding a pop of color through the necklace but also mixing some gold pieces.

Happy Tuesday Yall!

Blogcation

So that whole getting busy with life and not posting for a day or two got a bit excessive and I seemed to have taken a blogcation. In a way I'm kind of glad that I was able to take a step away and really focus on everything else I had going on and not worry about posting....

Allow me to explain- I love blogging. I was someone who for months read blogs every day and always wanted to start one but didn't know if I had the guts. I originally started the blog when I was living in Charlotte completing an internship- it became my outlet if you will. However here I am almost a year later and still blogging and still loving it just as much! With that being said, I do love having my blog and I love how much blogging has opened my eyes to so many different opportunities and ideas. However, I always want to keep in mind the reason I started blogging- as an outlet, not as something that would cause more stress to my every day life. So maybe there are a few days, heck even a week, where I don't post as regular as I normally would, but thats what I like about my blog- its still always there.

This week I would like to get back to my regular posting schedule but definitely wanted to make sure I addressed my lack of presence and also where I stand with Eloquently Emily. I have some excited posts lined up for this week, two of which are about affiliates I have recently teamed up with!

This past week, as I stated was absolutely nuts but here's some updates in pictures...
Purple and Gold ensemble to work... someones ready for Pirate season to begin!
I did manage to squeeze in a quick pinterest craft

View of Richmond from Legends Brewery

Goodies from a shopping outing
2 workout tops from Gap on sale for only $10 each!
Black wrap dress from H&M
Smashbox BB cream- obsessed

Friday Cheers with the girls to see Alabama Shakes!

Dinner and drinks with a few of my sorority sisters that were in town!

Checking In

Holy Toledo... its Thursday... how did that happen!? Logical response- because Thursday follows Wednesday, however I can't even believe that tomorrow marks the end of this week, it absolutely flew by!

Being that last week and the week before I got a tad slacking with my workouts, I was eager to hit the ground running this week and made sure to put in extra effort since I wont get much time this weekend to workout!

Monday I had an amazing yoga class- Yoga Remix to be exact and couldn't have loved it more. The instructor was great, the music was upbeat, and it was partially heated which left me walking out of there sweating but satisfied.

Tuesday I headed straight to the gym following work and banged out 3 miles on the treadmill followed by a stretching and weights.

Wednesday, I unfortunately did not make it to the gym because I had a dinner date with some family friends that live in Richmond! We have been trying to get together ever since I moved here and finally made it happen last night at the amazing and popular- Maggianos!

I had never been to a Maggiano's but could not wait to try it out! I ended up ordering one of their signature pastas and got to pick another to take home... talk about crazy good deal!
We also shared a tiramisu... not in my diet but ABSOLUTELY amazing

Today was back to grind and another 3 miles on the treadmill. Unfortunately I won't a chance to work out a again before Saturday but I am totally fine with that because I will be spending the weekend with my dad! I am so excited to have him here visiting for the weekend and have a lot of great things planned!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!

Em

BB Creams- Is it a do... or a dont?

Happy Tuesday Y'all!

I've been thinking about doing a post on BB creams for the past couple days, as they seem to have sprung up and become the latest beauty must have! While I have not tried a BB cream, I have read  some great reviews  and would love to get the opinions of others! At some point this week I will be making my way to Sephora (sorry bank account) and hopefully trying out a few of these to see which I like best...

If you have any opinions or suggestions, please let me know!

Em

Another Great Weekend

This past week I was lucky enough to have Friday off due an event I worked on Saturday night. This meant my weekend started a day early AND my mom and grandmother came to Richmond for the day!

I started off my Friday with a lovely yoga session at a GREAT yoga studio that I just joined. Due to the style and time of the class, I may have been the only person under 40 in the room but hey, yoga is yoga and I loved it! After yoga I had one of these baby waiting for me... if you have not tried them, I highly suggest it- I am obsessed! It tastes like chocolate milk, but lighter and with a hint of coconut.
Mom and Gram got here about mid-day and we headed to new gem I have discovered for a lovely lunch- Cafe Caturra!

(Not my picture)
I had the tuna salad sandwich and a spinach salad with walnuts and raspberry vinaigrette... it was amazing! We also snagged some of their mouth watering cookies to enjoy as an afternoon treat.

After lunch we did what all girls do best... shopped! Here's some pictures of where our shopping adventures took us

This super cute makeup bag I picked up at H&M

I FINALLY was able to find a pair of cheetah flats that I have been dying to get!

I also snagged these super cute flats from Francescas! I was a little unsure about the gems but I have already gotten so many compliments on them that I think their a keeper!

Sunday I headed to Barnes and Noble

per my usual Sunday activity and actually discovered a new obsession...

I have never heard or seen this magazine but in just one time reading it, I can tell it is going to be a favorite of mine. I loved that it had so much to offer about so many different things- great recipes, articles on wellness, and also an amazing selection of fitness advice! I have included their website just in case you want to check it out!

The rest of Sunday was spent running errands, grocery shopping, and getting ready for this week!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Yours truly,
Em
