Street Style

Im not very adventurous when it comes to fashion and tend to stick to a few staples and classic pieces. I'm not very big on picking up on the different trends that funnel through the seasons and in all honesty keep my wardrobe pretty simple and boring. With that being said, I am not ashamed of this nor do I see myself changing it within the near future. Call me me boring but this is what I am comfortable with and what I feel best in. While I do find myself envying those that can pull off any look from palazzo pants to acid wash cut offs, I also find myself most attracted to classic looks with a touch of personality. Here's a few of my favorite street style looks below...

I guess it's evident from this collection of pictures that I need to invest in some distressed jeans?
What are some of your favorite looks and styles?

Mid-Week Finds

In an attempt to get back to my posting schedule, I am switching things up a bit this week and sharing a few finds as of lately...

/ Meet my new lunch. I know, crazy right? However, with some chocolate almond milk, this has become my new lunch favorite. I love how it actually keeps me full but also feels light enough to not give me that gotta have coffee feeling around 3pm.

/ Full confession, even after living in my new house for more then a few months now... I have 0 items on my walls. The color scheme of my room is navy, white, and grey and I have been a bit stubborn to add any other colors. With that being said, I am looking for very simple prints and art work to add subtle touches without being overwhelming. This print caught my eye and I am thinking of adding it either above or next to my bed, thoughts?

/ Such a good reminder when feeling stressed and like life is a bit too much.

/ Anyone else devestated by the loss of McDreamy? I have been steadily following the show since it's debut in 2005 and was sad to see Patrick Dempsy leave. Thought I don't think the show will be quite what it used to be, I am interested to see what happens.

/ This blog has recently become my new favorite and for obvious reasons. Perhaps it's that she lives in my favorite city or maybe it's the stunning photographs she captures, either way I am a fan.

Emily Ann

Scenes From The Weekend

While I can't say we had the best weather this weekend, I can say what a great time we had despite the rain and cold.

Friday night my roommates friend came in town and we enjoyed a few cocktails while watching the Bruce Jenner special. Anyone else watch this? I have to say, I did not have high hopes but boy was I glad I watched. I thought it was incredibly sad to see the way the media has treated him, as well as other people going through what he is. All in all I think they put a great spin on it and turned it into something more then just about him and the Kardashians. I was in bed maybe 20 minutes after the special ended in order to wake up bright and early for our next event of the weekend- the Triangle
Beach Music Festival.

We had more friends get in to town on Saturday morning and greeted everyone with mimosas and a homemade yummy breakfast of eggs, bagels, fruit salad, and hash-browns. Once we were fed and outfitted in all of our rain gear, we headed to the festival.

The group- clearly not letting a little rain from keeping us from having a good time.

My roommate Ellen and I

After the festival we headed home for naps and pizza before making it out for round 2.

Sunday we threw a little house warming party and had friends over to see our new house. We were hoping it would mostly be outside, but unfortunately with chilly temps and more rain it was moved inside. It was so nice to catch up with so many of our friends and have them see our new house and neighborhood.

So lucky to have so many of my sorority sisters living close by. Sarah, in the middle even drove a little over an hour away to attend and surprised us Sunday morning.

Overall, it was a great weekend spent with so many good friends. Unfortunately from lack of sleep over the weekend, with the combined bad weather, I am feeling a bit crummy this week and looking forward to relaxing and catching up on sleep.

Emily Ann

Catching up...Odds and Ends

Being that I shared some of my new beauty additions, it only seemed fair to share a few new additions to my closet...

I haven't actually decided if I'm keeping this blouse but it's Iv my closet for now. I love the bright color and how flowy it is but just not sure if I'm 100% in love, especially for the price.

This was such a random find at H&M as it was the only one in the middle of a bunch of shirts. It will definitely need to be hemmed but it's a great dress for any season and can be dressed up or down.

In other updates, here's a few things in my view as of lately.

Mornings made complete by homemade iced coffee, my favorite caldera candle, and fresh blooms.

Lazy weekend breakfasts while catching up on blogging.

A sweet Sunshine box made for a friend with lots of love and well wishes.

Additionally anyone else relieved the week is almost over? While the weather isn't supposed to be great, I have some fun plans with friends coming in town. Here's to hoping the rest of the week is quick and easy!

Emily Ann

Catching Up: New Beauty Products

Being that I have taken a bit of blogging break, a catch up post seemed appropriate. However with so much to catch up on I figured I would break things down a bit and focus on one topic at a time. Today's post is all about the new products I have discovered and am loving....

This tinted moisturizer has quickly become my favorite and I am beyond obsessed. It has the coverage of a full foundation but doesn't feel quite has heavy and actually lasts all day.

While I love that the Hourglass foundation lasts all day, I do tend to get a shiny throughout the day. This powder has been perfect for applying mid day to my t-zone where I tend to need a bit more coverage. It's light enough that it doesn't look cakey and actually has a little iridescence to it which I love.

Run, do not walk to get them amazing product. I have been applying this before my mascera and holy moly does it make a difference. My lashes are noticeably longer and I really think it just makes my eyes look so much brighter and more awake.

This is a new brush just released by the Sephora collection and another product that I have quickly come to love. I use it with my Anastasia contour kit and love love love the detail it has added when contouring.

With all these warm temps we've been having, I have been wearing dresses any chance I can get. Unfortunately my legs are not quite summer ready and were pale as ghost until I decided to try my hand at self tanning using this amazing kit. I had major anxiety before using it and may have watched every youtube video available but I couldn't be more pleased with the results. I followed the instructions to a T, from exfoliating for 2 days before, applying the foam on dry clean skin, and using the tan extender and even a week after using it still have great color. I highly recommend checking this product out- you will love it.

I grabbed this sample as one of my Sephora Rewards last week to try out and see what I could do with it and boy am I glad I did. I have been adding this to the last step of curling my hair and scrunching it through the roots and love the texture it gives to my loose curls. It also smells amazing and lasts all day... yes please.

What new products have you tried lately?
Look for more updates throughout the week!

Yours truly,
Emily Ann

About Me...

This past weekend was pretty uneventful and I am not complaining one bit. I actually didn't take a single picture all weekend so don't have much of a weekend report unfortunately. Friday I had the day off and had a great spin class followed by a day full of errand running and crossing things off my to do list. Friday night my roommate and I went out and had a great time catching up with friends. Saturday I ran a few more errands before heading to lunch with friend outside and enjoying the gorgeous weather. Saturday night was spent babysitting and going to bed. Sunday my roommate and I whipped up a yummy breakfast of omelets and fruit salad before heading out to Umstead State Park for a little hike. The park was absolutely beautiful and I wish I could have stayed longer but had to head to babysit again in the afternoon. Sunday night was spent relaxing and getting ready for this week.

Being that I don't have a weekend report, I thought I would participate in this fun idea I have seen floating around the blog world. Weekend

.... That time I let a whole week go by since the last time I blogged... yep that just happened. Sorry friends, I wish I had a good excuse but the only thing I have is I needed a week of just me time. I would consider this week my getting back on track week- I went to work, worked out every day, cooked dinners (healthy dinners) and just generally had me time. Necessary. Anyone else ever have those weeks? My weekend officially started last night and I am so lucky to be having a 3 day weekend... cheers to that! Here's a few of this week's finds...

// Happy to see my hometown at the top of this lists places to travel!

// With bikini season right around the corner, I am thinking I need to add this to my routine.

// It's hard to believe I have yet to try a recipe from Skinnytaste, with that being said- I think I'll start with this yumminess.

// This top for summer... yes.

//I believe this whole heartedly.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Yours truly,
Emily Ann

Weekend

Well y'all after working 8 days in a row, this girl is beyond thrilled it's Friday! Last weekend and this week were crazy at work and I can't wait to be out of work and off for the weekend in just a few hours! Unlike years in past for Easter, I will not be heading home to Annapolis but rather heading to my roommates family in Lynchburg. I am looking forward to some low key time with my roommates and getting in lots of relaxing and time outside in this gorgeous weather. Here's this week's links and finds...

// Last weekend my roommate and I followed this recipe for the most delicious skinny margarita and they were amazing.

// At 50% off, this dress is a steal right now and too cute for words.

// While it's not my favorite store, I do have a couple of good basics from here and appreciate this guide for sifting through what is often overwhelming.

// I think it's safe to say I found my summer home

// Preach

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Yours truly,
Emily Ann

MId Week Thoughts

From working last weekend straight through this week, today should technically be my Friday but only 2 more days until this 8 day stretch is over. Talk about needing the weekend... this girl is ready. Here's a few random thoughts from this week...

// It's Wednesday and I still haven't been to the grocery store.. oops. That means it's been Starbucks Spinach Egg wrap for breakfasts, Kind bar and random other snack for lunch, and dinners out.

// Yesterday I managed to work out twice... ran in the a.m and strength training class in the evening, beach body where are ya?

// I can't believe today is April 1st! March absolutely flew by and was packed with busy weekends. With minimal plans in April I am hoping to get in a few low key weekends.

// I started watching Bloodline on Netflix... addicted. Anyone else checked it out yet?

// With warmer temps but embarrassingly pale skin, I am thinking I need to invest in a good self tanner, recommendations welcomed!

// Is it Friday yet?

Yours truly,
Emily Ann
