Thoughts on Thursday

After working last weekend and having long hours at work this week... this girl could not be more excited to see Thursday as tonight will be the start to my weekend! Here's a few other thoughts I've had throughout the week...

+ I could not be more excited to be headed down South this weekend to celebrate a good friend's wedding, I can't wait to see the beautiful bride and spend the weekend with great friends!

+ I have officially snagged a dress for the wedding and although it's a little plane. I love the scallop detail and think I will be able to wear it to so many different events. This weekend I am looking to pair it with some fun earings and color clutch.

+ Today is day 4 of working out this week and I am feeling great. I think my body has finally adjusted to going to bed earlier to wake up for the gym before work. Speaking of workout's, earlier this week I posted that I would share a few of my favorite fitness bloggers/work outs.

Fitness bloggers:

These were some of the first blogs I followed and definitely inspired me to start my own. They always have a good mix up of work outs including cardio, intervals, and strength.

Work out's that I have been trying lately have been...
Running intervals:
2 min walk warm up
10 sec sprint
20 sec run
30 jog
5 times
2 min walk
Repeat the interval until you have run each segment 5 times, with a total of 3 sets.
By the end of this run I promise you will be sweaty and ready for a break.

+ I beyond still obsessed with Orange Is The New Black and love watching it while warming up on the treadmill or elliptical in the morning.

+ Call me crazy but when I asked for summer, I wasn't exactly asking for 99 degree weather every day... it is too hot for words.

+ Tomorrow I am giving myself a bit of a mental health day and can't wait- I have spin in the morning, followed by breakfast with friends, then off to my first massage!

Happy Thursday to everyone!

Yours truly,
Emily

Mid Week Muse: After Work You Can Find Me...

After Work You Can Find Me...

Linking up again this week for Ann and Morgan's link up- Mid Week Muse ! This week I went with a bit of a different theme and thought it would be fun to see what others do when they get home from work. First think I do when I get home from work is change into comfier clothes, taking off pants and a bra has got to be one of the best feelings. Being that I work out in the morning I love that it's out of the way and I have the night to do whatever I want.Once I change, it's time to head into the kitchen for a little music and wine while I whip up dinner. Music is typically Van Morrison, Chardonnay is the wine of choice, and I normally always a candle burning. This part of my day is often my favorite and gives me a time to unwind and relax after what is usually a crazy and stressful day at work.

What is your routine after work?

Be sure to check out Ann and Morgan's posts for Mid Week Muse!

Emily

Weekend Recap + Plans For The Week

This past weekend I had to work both Saturday and Sunday so not a whole lot to report but a few fun things...

Thursday ended with an unexpected happy hour with a friend at a place I have been wanting to try for past few months- The Daily! Located in Carytown, I have heard nothing but rave reviews over the food, cocktails, and chic atmosphere. The happy hour was amazing and I am so glad I finally got to it out!

Friday started with an early spin class at Boho with my fiend Carrie. I hadn't been to spin all week and was so excited to get back on the bike. Our instructor was Jo and as always I left feeling extra sweaty, a bit sore but ready for the day. Jo finished our class with 10 tabata sprints, each 20 seconds... talk about killer workout.

After our workout we headed to whats becoming a Friday morning ritual breakfast at Lamplighter

I ordered their Lox bagel and signature coffee and per usual everything was delicious.

The rest of Friday was pretty low key and spent running errands and going to bed early before working on Saturday. Saturday night after a little bit of a hectic day at work, I was beyond excited to get out for a girls night dinner.

This was my second time at Osaka and just like the first, everything was amazing and so fresh. We ordered a few different rolls and a bottle of wine, perfect night in my book! I absolutely cherish these nights with my girlfriends. I've known these girls for almost 2 years now but every time we hang out I love learning new things about them. They mean the world and more to me and I am so fortunate to have made such amazing friends here in Richmond.

After dinner I eagerly hopped in my bed, watched a few episodes of Orange Is The New Black and was relatively early for a Saturday night. Sunday was more work and ended with laundry and grocery shopping... womp womp. Lucky for me I am off tomorrow and am hoping to get a few errands out of the way before relaxing for the rest of the day and hopefully in the sun!

Now for the week... this week is a short one as I am off on Friday before heading out of town for a wedding. I've got my meals and workout planned and am hoping the week flies by!

As for meals where's what we're looking at...
Breakfast: Overnight oats with almond milk, banana, and almond butter
Lunches: Salad- Romaine, cherry tomatoes, sesame sticks, chick peas, and hummus dressing
Snacks: Greek Yogurt/ Grapefruit
Dinners: Salmon patty with sweet potato fries, Quinoa with tofu and sauteed squash

This week I also plan to share a few of the workouts I've been doing, as well as some of my favorite fitness bloggers!

Hope everyone has a wonderful start to the week!

Friday's Fancies- One Kings Lane

One Kings Lane has always been one of my favorite sites when it comes to finding great pieces for any room of your home. I was honored and thrilled when the company contact me to be a part of their Reflect Your Style Campaign and am excited to share my vision for the perfect vanity...

When I first saw the selection of Mirrors I was immediately attracted to this one and love the arch details leading up to the top of the mirror. I think it could go with a lot of different furniture, as well as being used in a variety of spaces.

Next up I chose the the Tranquility Isle Dresser in Seafoam. I really liked the color of the dresser and the simple pulls- perfect to go in any bedroom AND currently on sale!

Accessories are just as important on a vanity as the main focal pieces and I found a ton of great options below:

I'm normally pretty plain jane when it comes to lighting and light fixtures, however I loved the look of the Canaan Table Lamp in Cream Pearl

Who doesn't love a good tray and this one could not be more perfect! I love the silver detailing and think it would make the perfect base to display jewelry or perfume.

Speaking of jewelry, these boxes make the perfect spot to store extra pieces and add a fun pop of color.

What vanity is complete without a yummy smelling candle.

Here's a few other items that one might find on my vanity...

Be sure to check out One King's Lane and their other amazing selection of mirrors and home goodies!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Emily

Splurge Vs. Save: Beauty

Splurge Vs. Save: Beauty

I was recently contacted by Erin from Credit Card Insider about doing a Splurge vs. Save post and immediately thrilled. While I do love indulging in some aspects of life, pedicures at times, good wines, yummy food, and one of my favorite things to spend money one... new beauty products, I also love a good save. Above are a few of my favorite products and alternatives I have found to be just as effective and great. I am so glad Erin asked me to participate in this great campaign and have loved seeing more affordable alternatives to products everyone loves and values. Check out Credit Card Insider for lots of resources including budgets, credit card financing, and managing debt. If you know me you know I absolutely love my job and wouldn't it for the world, however it's not a job that allows to spend whatever I want whenever I want. Lately I have been trying to really cut back and watch my budget, especially with all the traveling and weddings I am attending this summer. Saving a bit of money, especially when it comes to products I use every day... no brainer.

Be sure to comment with any affordable beauty products you have discovered lately!

Happy Thursday everyone- we're almost to the weekend!

Yours truly,
Emily
