My New Room

Happy Monday Yall! Being that this is my first week of work with my new job I went ahead and had some posts prepared and definitely wanted to share my new room! I was fortunate enough to find a great roommate who already most of the furniture for the house, therefore I really only needed to bring things for my room. Here are a couple shots of my new room!

I'm torn between thinking it looks like a 5 year little girls room or like the room of my a 20 something gal like myself. Thoughts on how to spruce it up? I was thinking of adding some throw pillows to my bed to add some pops of color and pick up from the Lilly quilt. It's a work in progress.

Back In Action!

Hello Dolls! I am happy to report that my laptop is back to functioning and I will be back in business on posting! Woo Hoo! I want to jump in right where I left off and share with everyone the work outs I have been doing! There has been some progress and I am very excited to share the details!

As for running, I have really been trying to kick it up a notch because I did something crazy and signed up for a 5k! While I was in FL I got a Groupon email about a 5k in Richmond called the Color Me Rad run! Noticing that it was similar to the Color Run I decided to take a chance and sign up!

The run isn't until July but I wanted to test myself now to see where I stood in running a 5k. On my first try I ran  it at about 36 minutes, not too bad but definitely left room for improvement. Today however I attempted to shave off some time and ended up running it 3 minutes faster in 33 minutes! I was happy with this time but would still like to get it down to 30 minutes if not less. I'd also like to keep increasing my distance as well as my speed so that hopefully I can sign up for a 10k!

As for strength training, I have been staying on target and alternating days between arms and legs. Most of my workouts have been coming from pinterest, here's a few of my favorites!

Hope everyone is having a great week, only more 2 more days until Friday!

Em

It happened again...

Would you believe me if I told you that my laptop broke YET AGAIN!? I know what you're thinking and I promise this girl is not fibbing. Last week my laptop took a turn for the worse and stopped working. I am in the process of having it repaired and should be back up and running by the weekend! I apologize for the lack of posts!

Lets Check In...

Happy Wednesday everyone! 1 more day until its Friday, and I can honestly say I don't think I've ever been more excited! This Friday is somewhat of a bittersweet day as it will be my last day with my toddlers but also the start of a very exciting chapter. Next week will be spent boxing up all my things and preparing to move to a new city to begin my career.

Today I thought I would do a little check in on my month goals, being that the month is over half way through! Lets take a look back...

April Goals:
1. Start a food journal- Ok so I definitely could be better on this but have been jotting things down every now and then. I think it will help if I buy a journal solely devoted to being a food diary, rather then writing what I ate in my planner.

2. Run at least 4 times a week and strength train twice a week- CHECK!
So far I have run everyday this week and have been alternating days between working on legs and arms. Tomorrow I will share more about the workouts I have been doing.

3. Find a place to live- CHECK
I will share pictures of the new place once I am all settled! Only 8 more days until I move!

4. Complete a craft from pinterest- In the works
I can't wait to show you guys the craft I have been working on, its definitely no where close to being done but I can say-  it's pretty dern special.

5. Try 3 new recipes- I should probably get going on this

So there you have it, definitely making progress but still have a little ways to go!

Make sure you check out tomorrow's post on my workouts!

Yours truly,
Em

Let's back up a bit...

Today while I was contemplating what to post about, I realized I have not yet shared a picture of my haircut!

Here is a few shots of me with my lonnggg hair

And now... short hair dont care

So far I absolutely LOVE the new cut. My hair feels 10x healthier and has a different bounce to it. While I do miss some aspects of having long hair, having a new cut has been so fun to play around with. I apologize for the delay in results!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Em

Back to Reality

Happy Monday dolls! I wish I could say I would was ready for this week, however when my alarm went off this morning and I realized it was not only a Monday morning but that I also was no longer in FL... well I'm sure you can imagine my disappointment. My vacation to Florida was exactly what the doctor ordered and I could not have asked for a better time, or better whether for that matter! Here are a couple snap shots of how I spent my time the past 4 days...

The beach can only get better if you add a bucket of frozen sangria!

A stop by Bongo's beach bar

A trip to the outlets where I scored some great items from Banana Republic

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and had a great start to their week today!

Yours truly,
Em

Getting Ready For Beach Life

Here's a few essentials that will be taken with me for my trip to the beach...

L.C's new cover will make the perfect beach read.
I've become a maniac about the sun and my face- this hat covers my face and feels more put together then just an old baseball hat.
I actually use the Face sunblock all over- because of my sensitive skin and not wanting to clog my pores.
My favorite beach coverup- comfortable yet cute and could be worn from the beach to shops or beach bars

Good 'ol aviators

Em

Sorry for the absence...

Hello dolls, sorry for the few days away- I unfortunately caught the flu or a stomach bug towards the end of the last week and am STILL recovering! Not that I intend to go into any of the details, but allow me to explain...

Wednesday I woke up feeling a bit achy but assumed it was from my workout the previous day so I went about my normal routine and headed to work. Mid day I began feeling really sluggish and decided to treat myself to a  Tall Coffee Light frap at Starbucks to try and stir up some energy. An hour later I began feeling extremely feverish and went to the office to use the thermometer and what do you know... I had a fever. And not only a fever but a terrible stomach ache from the frappacino. I went home early and spent the rest of the afternoon/night throwing up everything I had eaten that day... wonderful I know. Thursday I still tried to go into work (don't ask me why) but ended up leaving early again with a fever. Thank goodness we had Friday off and I was able to spend the day recuperating!

I am still not feeling 100% and don't have much of an appetite but am thankful to not have a fever! Now enough about all that and to the exciting part...

I will officially not be homeless when I move to a new city for a my new job! That's right.. I have found my apartment! For the sake of safety reasons I'm choosing to leave out exactly where it is but I can assure you, it is cute! Once I move and begin decorating my new space, I will most definitely be posting pictures.

In other exciting news... the time is almost here and in just 2 days I will be on a plane headed down to sunny Florida! Hallelujah! This trip could not come at more of a perfect and needed time! The past few days my thoughts have been filled with stressing about moving to a new state and starting my career. While I am very blessed to have this opportunity and also very excited... there is still a large part of me that is absolutely terrified! Hopefully this is nothing a little sun and salt air can't cure!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Monday and a great start to their week!

Em

Why Not...

So now that I have established that I am moving to a new city, obviously one of the first things that came to mind is decorating my new place! Do I already have a place, you ask? Heck no, but doesn't everyone think about the decorating and fun stuff before the actual daunting task of finding a place. I will be taking a majority of my bedroom furniture with me, permitting that it fits well into the room. However here's a few ideas I pulled off pinterest as inspiration!
 Color Schemes:

I LOVE both of these color schemes because they are not too overwhelming and would be perfect and cozy in my new bedroom.

I currently have this bedding and think I will be using it in my new house as well- I love the simplicity of the white and the small button detail.

Obviously lots of candles everywhere

Love the idea for using antique classes as makeup organization, I'm thinking possibly some milk glass?

A lot of the apartments I have looked at thus far have had hard wood floors and I love to find a cute and neutral throw rug for the floor.

Also here's an update of my workout from yesterday:
Yesterdays workout consisted of just an ordinary, no sprint run. Lately I have been doing a lot of interval runs, which I LOVE! I love the different speeds of sprinting, jogging, and also how quick they are! However I took a break from the sprinting and just ran. It came out to be a little over 2 and a half miles which I was fine with, I also did a 5 minute warm up and cool down. Today I plan to do about 20/25 minutes of interval sprints, followed by some strength training!

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Em

Goals for April

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and is ready to take on this week! I wanted to start the week off by talking about some goals for April! April is going to be an absolutely crazy month but I cant wait for all it has to offer! In just over a week I'll be heading to FL with one of my best friends for 4 days of relaxing on the beach... I could not be more excited. Also this month I will be finding a new home AND moving to a new city, talk about a lot going on! However with all the business and craziness I'd like to make a few goals this month!

April Goals:
1. Start a food journal
2. Run at least 4 times a week and strength train 2 times
3. Find a place to live (pretty important)
4. Complete craft from pinterest

5. Try 3 new recipes

These all sound pretty doable so I am hoping I can accomplish all of them!

Also last night I had a craving for something sweet and was super excited when I opened our pantry to find brownie mix AND canned pumpkin... seeing where I'm going with this? I FINALLY tried substituting pumpkin with brownie mix and let me say... it did not let me down. The texture is definitely a little different, somewhat gooey but overall still cured my craving for something sweet.

Yours truly,
Em

In Need Of A New Read...

I am currently on the hunt for a new read and would love recommendations! Heres a few I am considering...

Overview: At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State—and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Overview: Hospitalized with a freak case of tropical pneumonia, goaded by his wife telling him, “I don’t want to be a widow at forty-five,” and ashamed of a middle-aged body best described as “a python that swallowed a goat,” A.J. Jacobs felt compelled to change his ways and get healthy. And he didn’t want only to lose weight, or finish a triathlon, or lower his cholesterol. His ambitions were far greater: maximal health from head to toe.

Overview: At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon -- from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence.

Overview: Shattering the myth of muses, higher powers, even creative “types,” Jonah Lehrer demonstrates that creativity is not a single gift possessed by the lucky few. It’s a variety of distinct thought processes that we can all learn to use more effectively.

I'll be sure to let everyone know which I choose! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Yours truly,
Em
