Linking Up For Five On Friday!

Happy Friday loves! I just returned from a run and am lucky enough to have the day off and am feeling MUCH better then yesterday! This week I will be linking up for Five On Friday!

I love every one of these blogs and was so excited when they decided to create a link up! Here are my 5 for the week!

One.
Last week when J.Crew factory was having their amazing sale- I ordered this cute dainty bracelet and can't wait to add it to my stack! It was a steal at only $16.

Two.
Getting out the door early in the morning to go for a run isn't exactly the easiest task. However, I am always thankful when I do because I can catch a beautiful sunrise over the Duck Pond. It's one of my favorite running routes and leaves me feeling peaceful and ready to start my day off on the right foot.

Three.
Iced coffees after spinning class make the entire hour of sweating and leg burning completely worth it.

Four.
Today a friend of mine also has the day off, so we have decided to make it a pool day! I can't wait to lay out all day and get in some reading and relaxing.

Five.
I picked up this yummy summer time beer the other day at the store and it did not disappoint! And to think my obsession with berries couldn't go farther...

That's it for my Five on Friday! This weekend I will be working but also fitting in some fun here and there.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thoughts for Thursday

This week has been a bit of a mess so please forgive me if my thoughts on this particular Thursday seem a bit grumpy...

1. If having a glass of wine every night when I have gotten home this week is wrong... I do not want to be right. They have been my savior... judge away.

2. I know when it was cold I prayed and prayed for warmer weather but this girl is not ready for 94... its hot as hell and I'd like to be able to walk the couple of blocks to work from my car without sweating.

3. Workers were working on the gas around my building which left me without my gas stove last night which lead me to have cereal for dinner... with wine.

4. My hospital got a donation of girl scout cookies and I have debatably ate half a box of Somoas.

5. I overslept on Tuesday and missed spinning... fail. I did go on a nice run yesterday though, thank goodness.

6. I did make it to spinning this a.m so I don't feel so guilty about all the wine and cookies.

7. My poor little window unit in my apartment is not cutting it and I believe I am living in a sauna.

8. I haven't been watching anything on TV lately and have decided to give Mistresses a try when it starts on Monday ( I mean hey, the theme song is one of my song obsessions)

9. It looked like a tornado went through my room several times this week as I was searching for something to wear.

10. On a positive note- even though this week I am going over my hours like crazy, next week I have a lot of fun things planned including a friends birthday and a trip to Raleigh to see Widespread Panic! Hurry up next weekend!

Again, completely sorry for my whining but I feel sufficiently better after getting all that out. Just one of those weeks friends.

Let's talk music- Latest music obsessions

I have been a little slack on my Blog Everyday in May Challenge and wanted to get back to it today by discussing music! I don't know about every body else but I love me some music and finding new songs to jam to. I love jamming in my car, in the shower, and especially on my runs! Today's challenge topic is 5 songs that bring you back to a certain memory, now while I think this is a great topic- I have chosen to share my latest song obsessions.

1. Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke and Pharrell
Y'all... I am serious obsessed with this song. I think I listen to it on average 10 times a day.

2. Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray
This song is constantly stuck in my head and has completely given me a new found love for Lana Del Ray!

3. Clouds by Zach Sobiech
If you haven't seen the video on Zach... please google it now. This kid is without a doubt one of the most amazing stories I have heard about it and Clouds is an incredibly uplifting and beautiful song.

4. Beat This Summer by Brad Paisley
I am a sucker for anything Brad, also another one I listen to on average 10 times.

5. Come and Get It by Selena Gomez
How Selena Gomez made this list, I am not entirely sure but I LOVE this song. It is so catchy and I find myself singing it all throughout the day.

Hope everyone is having a great week- 2 more days until Friday!

Weekend Report- Moving to Charlotte...maybe

Hey Y'all, I am officially back from Charlotte and already missing it more then life itself! I would not be surprised if this girl moved there within the next few years, I mean it's not like I already applied to 3 jobs yesterday... oops! Overall I had a wonderful weekend and was able to spend lots of time with my old roommates catching up, going out, shopping, and meeting their new friends, it was a blast! Here's a bit of a photo dump from my trip, as well as an interesting turn at the end...

For getting down and back to Charlotte, I opted to try out the Megabus thinking it would save money on gas and being that the bus has wifi, I thought it would be a good time to just sit back and relax for a little bit... wrong.

Kicking off the weekend with Raspberry Tequila Sangria... this drink is lethal.

Out with my old roommate Kelly! We went out in the Montford area both nights and had a great time at the bars down there, lots of fun little bars all within the same block!

Back yard laying out the next day. We aimed to go to the lake but given how we were all feeling the next morning, that was not in the cards.

Selfies at the bar... yep that happened on night 2 out... judge away.

Amber, Myself, and Kelly hanging at Angry Ales

I even ran into a friend from high school!

So on my way back is where the trip took a bit of a downward spiral. Like I said, for my traveling I opted to take the Megabus and was a first time user but had heard good things from friends who had taken it. My ride down to Charlotte wasn't terrible but the bus was completely full and there was almost no room to put your stuff or even stretch out in the slightest. For my ride back up to Richmond... things got a lot worse. While we were on 95, our bus pulled off at a gas station, I assumed we were taking a rest stop and the driver was allowing people to get snacks and/or stretch for a little bit. Boy was I wrong, next thing I knew the drive made announcement letting us know "We have a situation and are going to be here a little bit." Talk about leaving a girl hanging... what the heck is a situation and how long is a little bit?! Within 5 minutes, 4 cop cars were surrounding the bus, as well as K9 dogs.

Obviously I had to take a picture

A police officer boarded our bus and let us know that he was sure there was weed on our bus and he was going to find it and asked that everyone evacuate the bus while they and the dogs search everything.

Everyone off the bus!

The police searching the top section of the bus and bringing people up for questioning.

All in all they never found anything and it was a 2 hour delay for nothing, leaving this girl extremely grumpy for the rest of the ride home. Can y'all believe that?!

Monday I actually headed into work but was able to get out at a decent time and immediately headed to one of my favorite happy hour spots for a martini and oysters...a perfect way to end the holiday weekend!

Extra Dirty Martini with jalapeno stuffed olives... amazing and courtesy of Pearls

Yummy Chesapeake Oysters

As for the rest of the week, I am looking forward to grocery shopping, getting back to my routine and going for a few good runs, as well as hitting up my spinning class!

Also a BIG thank you to Ann over at Ann Elliot for mentioning me in some of her favorite blogs! I absolutely loved reading Ann's blog and I hope I get to meet this sweet girl in person sometime!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Off to The Queen City

I beyond excited to spend time with them and catch up, it will be a long weekend of lots of fun and relaxing! I'll even admit that I made a list of things I want to do while I am there- going back to some of my favorite restaurants and  hitting up my favorite shopping areas (Hello South Park and Birkdale.) I will be back on Monday with a full report of the weekend!

Hope everyone has a fabulous Memorial Day weekend!

Book Review: The Paris Wife

Prior to leaving for my conference I knew I wanted to pick up a good book to read on the flight but of course completely forgot until I was at the airport... fail. However, I was beyond excited when I perused one of the book shops at the airport and found The Paris Wife!

I had heard about this book being wonderful and even read a few bloggers post their reviews and how much they enjoyed reading it. Also, after seeing Great Gatsby my mind has been stuck in that era so I knew this would be a good choice. Here is a brief synopsis of the book:

"Chicago, 1920: Hadley Richardson is a quiet twenty-eight-year-old who has all but given up on love and happiness—until she meets Ernest Hemingway. Following a whirlwind courtship and wedding, the pair set sail for Paris, where they become the golden couple in a lively and volatile group—the fabled “Lost Generation”—that includes Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Though deeply in love, the Hemingways are ill prepared for the hard-drinking, fast-living, and free-loving life of Jazz Age Paris. As Ernest struggles to find the voice that will earn him a place in history and pours himself into the novel that will become The Sun Also Rises, Hadley strives to hold on to her sense of self as her roles as wife, friend, and muse become more challenging. Eventually they find themselves facing the ultimate crisis of their marriage—a deception that will lead to the unraveling of everything they’ve fought so hard for.

A heartbreaking portrayal of love and torn loyalty, The Paris Wife is all the more poignant because we know that, in the end, Hemingway wrote that he would rather have died than fallen in love with anyone but Hadley."

Sounds great doesn't it? Well let me tell you, this book did not disappoint! By the time I reached my first layover in Chicago I was already half way done and couldn't wait to finish and see how the story would turn out. It is written beautifully and although I have never been too familiar with Ernest Hemingway, I was in awe of his deep love and care for Hadley, his first wife. Their relationship consisted of a strong love built on passion, understanding, and a true desire to make the other happy.

I highly suggest this book to anyone looking for a quick, enjoyable, but thought provoking book!

Next up on my list to read, going with my Great Gatsby era theme is...

Description:

"When beautiful, reckless Southern belle Zelda Sayre meets F. Scott Fitzgerald at a country club dance in 1918, she is seventeen years old and he is a young army lieutenant stationed in Alabama. Before long, the “ungettable” Zelda has fallen for him despite his unsuitability: Scott isn’t wealthy or prominent or even a Southerner, and keeps insisting, absurdly, that his writing will bring him both fortune and fame. Her father is deeply unimpressed. But after Scott sells his first novel, This Side of Paradise, to Scribner’s, Zelda optimistically boards a train north, to marry him in the vestry of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and take the rest as it comes.

What comes, here at the dawn of the Jazz Age, is unimagined attention and success and celebrity that will make Scott and Zelda legends in their own time. Everyone wants to meet the dashing young author of the scandalous novel—and his witty, perhaps even more scandalous wife. Zelda bobs her hair, adopts daring new fashions, and revels in this wild new world. Each place they go becomes a playground: New York City, Long Island, Hollywood, Paris, and the French Riviera—where they join the endless party of the glamorous, sometimes doomed Lost Generation that includes Ernest Hemingway, Sara and Gerald Murphy, and Gertrude Stein.
Everything seems new and possible. Troubles, at first, seem to fade like morning mist. But not even Jay Gatsby’s parties go on forever. Who is Zelda, other than the wife of a famous—sometimes infamous—husband? How can she forge her own identity while fighting her demons and Scott’s, too? With brilliant insight and imagination, Therese Anne Fowler brings us Zelda’s irresistible story as she herself might have told it"

Ahh, cant wait to pick this one up!

Catching up From Denver

Lord have Mercy, this week is going to be a rough on. I predicted this last night when I didn't get home closet to 11:30 and as I was walking through the door of my apartment, busted open my elbow... causing me to crumble to the floor and have a mini meltdown. Yea... its definitely going to be one of those weeks.

I am lucky enough to say that it will only be a 3 days work week before I am traveling down to Charlotte, NC to celebrate Memorial Day weekend with friends that I have not seen in far too long! I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend, spent catching up with friends, and enjoying being back in NC!
