Thank goodness Friday is finally here. I am so lucky to have today off, as well as the rest of the weekend! Christmas time around the hospital is crazy and filled with lots of donations and long hours. This weekend I am looking forward to my dad coming in town, a bit of relaxing, and finishing my Christmas shopping! I can't believe Christmas is next week, I am officially counting down the days until I am home with friends and family. Today calls for a quick gym session, a few errands before dad gets here, and a way overdue hair appointment!

This yummy brown rice Greek salad made the perfect grab and go lunch. Recipe to come next week!

This weekend my dad will be visiting Richmond and I can't wait to try out some new dining spots. Tonight we have reservations at The Roosevelt and I have heard nothing but wonderful things about their delicious food and specialty drinks.

In yesterday's post I shared that I had received 2 pieces of good news all in one day. Yesterday not only did I enroll in my first graduate school class starting in January, but I also got a new assignment at work. I currently cover a school age and adolescent unit on my hospital but have always had an interest and particular passion for working with children with cancer and blood disorders, aka hem/oncers. This week it was decided that starting in January I will be the inpatient Hem/Onc Child Life Specialist for all pediatric units.... talk about a dream come true!

Speaking of work... my hospital debuted this video last week and it has gotten a ton of media coverage! It was so much fun to make and I loved getting to be a part of it.

Last but not least, this past week we had a bit of a health scare with my Pop-pop. He was admitted to the hospital Sunday night but yesterday was all thumbs up and ready to go home. He is over 90 and I'm always amazed at his energy and love for life. So happy my Pop-pop is feeling better and will be going home soon!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Yours truly,
Emily

Have a fabulous weekend! My family lives in Charlottesville (where I grew up) and we visit Richmond every so often. I will have to put the Roosevelt on our list to try! Stopping by from the link-up. Happy holidays!
Hope you have an amazing weekend with your dad!! And girl - your amazing for what you do at the hospital and for all your patients!! I'm sure you're one of the few brights spots in their day! Your grandpa looks awesome!! :)
So glad your pop pop is feeling better, I hate those kinds of scares! Really makes you count your blessings!
Prayers for your Pop-pop!
So glad to hear your grandpa is doing okay! YES I work for Cerner (how do you like using it? I've heard the good and the bad so you won't offend me), that's so funny. And I am definitely planning a trip to Richmond so we should all do dinner - you, me and Allie! That brown rice salad looks amazing also.
