Friday Five.

Happy Friday Y'all! Hope everyone had a wonderful week! I felt the week dragged on a little myself but boy am I glad its Friday. This week was crazy with work and don't even ask me if I worked out because this girl only made it to Barre once... gross. This weekend I have plans to grab drinks and dinner with a friend, hit up the outlets and a few winerys and end my weekend with church and barre! Should be a great weekend and I can't wait to get it started.

This past week I tried a few things off pinterest that I wanted to share...

Last night I made this amazing Pesto Pizza. It was SO easy and tasted so so good. I will be having pizza for days but I am totally ok with that. Check out the recipe here. The recipe calls for making your own crust but G. picked up already made dough and rolled out and it tasted amazing.

Also I never shared about my weekend at home! Here's a few snap shots of how I spend the weekend. I relaxed and spent a ton of time with mom and gram and it was exactly what I needed. I am guilty to say that I didn't even get together with any friends from home but it was honestly one of those weekends I just wanted to be with my family. I am planning a trip home in a few weeks to get in lots of friend time though so no worries!

Another idea found off pinterest- a necklace holder made from driftwood. I will post more about this next week but I am in love and I would by lying if I said I didn't wear a necklace everyday this week just because they were hanging on this.

A movie date with my momma to see Safe Haven. Animal print flats and of course peanut M&Ms and popcorn.

A new throw pillow for my little apartment. I absolutely loved this print and the warm gold hue. I scored it on sale at TJ Maxx.

Feet up and enjoying the sun streaming through our back windows.

What do you have planned for the weekend?

Em

My Daily Go To's

Happy Tuesday Y'all! I am constantly seeing bloggers post products they use on a daily or weekly basis and though I should share my own list! If I had a never ending budget I am sure I would be someone that is considered a "target product junkie." And while I do let myself get carried away with trying new things sometimes, I also have products that I have been using forever that I choose to stick with. I am somewhat a creature of habit, although from time to time I do switch things up. Take this morning for example, my alarm was set for my normal time of 5:37(don't judge the random time) to head to the gym, come home, shower, then head to work. However being that I went to barre class last night and it was a new instructor (she completely kicked my butt) I was feeling really sore and stiff and not ready to tackle a cardio day. Now could I have pushed myself and gone to the gym, absolutely but I know that by tomorrow I would be sore, miserable and not want to work out for the next 2 days. So this morning I woke up and had a nice stretching session and decided I would spend my morning doing some catch up blogging. Not going to lie, it was nice having the morning to enjoy my coffee in my pjs and enjoy the quite sound of the city. Anyway enough of my morning, lets get to my daily products!

Beauty:

I wish I could be one of those people that takes a shower only a few times a week or at least can go a few days without washing their hair but unfortunately that is not how this girls hair works. I normally take 2 showers a day, one in the morning where I wash my hair and one at night just to rinse off before getting in bed (I work in a hospital and you know that place is crawling and gross germs and yuckies.) I recently tried this shampoo after hearing it might help stimulate hair growth (read my gripe about wanting long hair here) and honestly I have LOVED it. On weekends I can definitely get away with going 1.5-2 days without washing my hair and love that hydrates my hair without leaving it feeling heavy.

Because I have short hair, I do not use conditioner everyday, especially now that I use this shampoo. However if I feel like my hair is in need of a little love I use this leave in conditioner.

For my body wash, I stick to a pretty simple bar of soap but LOVE the way it smells and that it doesn't leave me feeling dry or oily. I originally tried this brand about a year ago and love all their products and could probably spend days smelling them all at Whole Foods. I am a sucker for lavender but they have a ton of great scents to choose from.

That pretty much does it for a my shower routine, I obviously shave but I would be lying if I said I had a go to razor that I use all the time.

When it comes to my lotion, I am SUPER picky. I don't like products that leave me feeling greasy and cakey but because I have dry skin, I need something that really quenches my skin. A few months ago after a trip to the dermatologist, I was told to try this brand for both my face and body lotion and have never been happier.  This brand is completely free of chemicals and has done wonders for my skin. It's a big tricky to track down but can be ordered on Amazon. I slather it on my skin after getting out of the shower and before getting into bed at night.

Teeth:

Toothpaste is another thing I am not a creature of habit for and normally just buy whatever is on sale at Target. However the past few times I have gone to the sore, I have picked up this Crest version.

As for my toothbrush, I use one that I found at Trader Joes. It's by a company called Preserve and is 100% recycled and made from yogurt cups! I have the navy and although I've only had it a week or two, so far I really like it. You can pick one up at your local Trader Joes or Whole Foods.

What are your daily go to's?
I will be posting my makeup go tos next so stay tuned! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Em

Ramblings

TGIF Y'all! Another weekend off and this weekend I am headed home to spend the weekend relaxing with my family. I am loving all these weekends off, I feel like I can enjoy my weekends and spend them relaxing and with friends. This week thankfully flew by fast and and although it was crazy busy, I still had time to fit in a few things...

A yummy dinner at home after a long day- Roasted cabbage, sweet potatoes and tofu with a side of yummy sriracha

Ending a good gym session with my new obsession from Elwood Thompsons- Get Glowing smoothie. Spinach, almond milk, almond butter, chia seeds, and banana

Finally got a chance to wear this fun blue blouse to work! Pardon the broken drawer in the background.

Now as for things that have caught my eye this week...
I'm a sucker for a good find at Forever and I adore this striped dress. Perfect for spring and could be worn to work with cute flats or in summer with jacks!

These most definitely need to make their way onto my eyes ASAP. I saw them while I was perusing J.Crew and instantly fell in love.

I recently spied this amazing bag and Francesca's and for the life of my can't figure out why I left it behind. It is currently in my online basket, next stop- my door step! Its reversible, with the other side being black but I love the deep camel color best.

As for the rest of the weekend, I stumbled across this pin and couldn't believe how much it sounded like my own To Do list!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Yours truly,
Em

Scenes From The Weekend

Monday Monday...we meet again. However unlike the past few Mondays where I've felt exhausted from working the weekend and not quite prepared to face another week... this Monday I am feeling much better. This weekend I had the pleasure of being off and while I was not feeling my best on Friday, a little R&R is all the doctor ordered and I am feeling not 100% but overall much better.

On Friday I laid around all day, and lucky for me is was rainy gross day and made for a perfect lounging day.
View from my couch all snuggled watching the rain. On Friday I made a decision that I'm still not quite sure how I feel about... I started watching Downtown Abbey. I have heard rave reviews and wanted to see what all the fuss was about and let me just say... I have a new obsession. I had plans to lay low and finish up season one when I got suckered into meeting up with some friends for the night.

We met up a local brewery for a couple beers and live music.

Obviously a few beers turned into too many and before I knew it we were headed downtown to continue to the fun.

Saturday morning I woke up feeling less then stellar but was quickly picked up by a fabulous breakfast at the one and only... Cracker Barrel.  I stayed pretty healthy and chose the Egg and Cheese sliders on a thin whole wheat toast and fresh fruit. After breakfast I managed to pull myself to the gym and completed a good hour cardio session. The rest of Saturday afternoon and night were spent finished season 1 and 2 of Downtown Abbey... pathetic or an accomplishment, I'll let you decide.

Sunday I was up early and headed to church... yes you read that right... I went to church. Although I went to private school all the way until college, I have never found myself to be as religious as I could. Sunday morning I awoke with no plans and thought there is no better time then today to work on my relationship with  God. Luckily for me, there is a catholic church just a block away from me. It was a beautiful service and I left afterwards feeling refreshed and happy to start my day on such a peaceful yet humbling mood.

My lovely Sunday didn't stop there, I was able to squeeze in a quick Barre class and although I normally advocate for Sundays being strictly rest days, I felt even more energized and ready for the day following class. After Barre I headed to my obligatory Sunday spot...
Barnes to catch up on some mags and enjoy an iced coffee. It's such a small treat but one that I look forward to every Sunday. I look at it as my "me" time.

The rest of Sunday included lots of laundry, more Downtown Abbey and a quick sprint run...
It was way too nice of a day not to head out a little run and while I had no intention of turning it into a sprint, I would say averaging a 5.30 mile is pretty good. So much for Sundays being for rest.

How did you spend your weekend?

Em
