5 on Friday + A Little Extra

Happy Friday y'all! This week has been super long, from working last weekend and long hours this week and knowing I'll be working this weekend... this girl is ready for a day off. My day off is Monday and I couldn't be more excited to relax and finally have the day to get things done! Today's post is a bit of a photo dump of everything that's been going on lately, lots to catch up on and share!

{one}
 Last Friday I got together with a few girls to catch happy hour on the roof with some yummy wine and snacks. It was so relaxing to be outside on the roof watching the sun go down catching up with friends.

{two}
 After working last weekend, I was lucky enough to have Memorial Day off and spent it at a friends pool doing some reading and finally getting some sun!

{three}
 A few months ago I bought a Groupon for the Richmond Brewery Trolley tour and was so excited to use it last weekend. I went with some friends and we had a great time going around to some of my favorite breweries in Richmond testing our their newest beers.

{four}
I ended super relaxing weekend last weekend with a glass of wine and take out sushi... what could be better!

{five}
 This week I tried out a new recipe that I can't wait to share with y'all next week! It was absolutely amazing and definitely made a great start to each day!

 In Wednesday's post I mentioned wanting to get back on track with my working out and eating and I definitely did this week. One day I even made it out for an early morning run session! The run was definitely rough but it felt great afterwards and I am excited to be back to my routine.

{seven}
 After running, spin, and a lot of weights a Sunrise Yoga class was definitely necessary. Yoga always makes me feel better after a couple intense workouts and I left class feeling amazing.

Last but not least, it's no shocking topic on my blog that I love my job and consider myself extremely fortunate to come in contact with the patients and families that I do. This past week I received a very sweet award from a past patient AND an amazing manicure from another. It was so humbling and reminded me of why I do my job.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

Midweek Muse: Time to Get Bikini Ready

Time to Get Bikini Ready

If you're anything like me, summer has hit you full force and the idea of being in a bikini isn't so appealing. This week for midweek muse I am channeling my inner Jillian Michaels with workout gear. Over the past weekend and this week I have made working out and eating better a top priority and although I am sore and tired and craving pizza, I am determined to feel better about myself! The past few weeks have been so busy with traveling and work that I have totally let working out and healthy eating fall to the way side and I would be lying if I said it didn't show a little. In the next few weeks I plan on staying on track and keeping record on the blog to hold myself accountable. My next bikini vacation is July 4th and I am aiming to feel a little better in my skin by then!

Check out Ann and Morgan's link up- Midweek Muse if you haven't already!

San Francisco Part 1

Today I am sharing the first part of my trip out to San Francisco! I had never been to California before and can't even begin to describe how much I loved San Francisco! Here's the first few days of my trip...

I arrived Tuesday early evening and took the BART system into downtown San Francisco to meet my friend Angelica who I was stay with for the week. We dropped my stuff at Angelica's and headed to dinner with a few of her friends and made a few pit stops so I could marvel at the city skyline and catch a few pictures...

The view was absolutely amazing and the sunset was just perfect.
For dinner we headed to Nick's Crispy Tacos and while the name may sound kind of cheesy, the tacos and atmosphere were amazing. Every Tuesday Nicks does a special on tacos and to say it gets crowded is an understatement...
It was absolutely packed with people watching the Clippers game and enjoying their tacos. I opted their veggie tacos and they definitely didn't disappoint along with their pitcher of margarita!

Wednesday Angelica had to work so I was up early and explored some classics of San Francisco...
Almost every morning I grabbed a latte and breakfast from a cafe right near Angelica's apartment Cafe Francisco- it was amazing and I highly suggest if you are traveling to SF or in the North Beach area. Their lattes are out of this world and everything is so fresh and yummy!

Most of Wednesday was spent walking around Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. Both are  big tourist spots but still fun to check out.

One of my favorite things about Pier 39 was definitely the Sea Lions!
I visited the Sea Lions almost every day, sometimes more then once and could not get enough of them. They were so interesting to watch and definitely one of my favorite things from my trip.

Wednesday once Ang was off work we headed to the Marina area to meet some friends of hers for Wing Night at Lightening Tavern.

Being that I don't eat wings, I was all too excited when I saw they had tots on the menu and ended up having that for dinner. The Marina area is really great and had tons of restaurants and great shops like Gap, Benefit, Brandy Melville, and Lulu Lemon. It's also not that far away from some of the parks that overlook the Golden Gate.

Thursday was spent with more exploring near Angelica's and then meeting up with more friends that had arrived to SF for the weekend. That night we headed back out to the Marina district to walk around and grabbed sushi at The Naked Fish...

One of the things we ordered was the Fire Cracker Balls and they were literally out of this world. I normally don't go for fried sushi but couldn't turn down trying these and so glad I didn't.

The Naked Fish also gives you complimentary edamame, definitely a score once we got there and were starving!

Look for the rest of the trip this week including Napa and Sausalito!

Hope everyone has a great start to the week!

Weekend.

Happy Friday friends!
I am officially back from my trip and apologize for the lack of posts over the past week but since getting back I have been full force at work and struggling a bit with the time change! This weekend I am house/dog sitting for a friend and no plans other then to catch up with a few girlfriends tonight over wine and some yummy snacks on the rooftop! I will be back next week at my normal schedule and post about my trip! Here's a few things for you until then...

+ There are so many great sales this weekend- Nordstroms and J.Crew Factory are a few of my favorites

+ Next week I am looking forward to getting back to my routine and excited to try out this recipe

+ This morning I caught an early morning spin class and during my favorite necklace broke and fell off. I've had this necklace for about 2 years and wear it everyday and you can bet another one will be purchased this weekend!

+ I need these shoes.

+ Loving this bedroom makeup- great pieces all for such a good price

+ Couldn't agree more with these words.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

5 On Friday- San Francisco Edition

This week for 5 on Friday I am going all out and talking about my upcoming trip to San Francisco and things I am looking forward to. This is my first week long vacation since starting my job 2 years ago and I couldn't be more excited to get away and enjoy the beautiful weather and time with my friends.

This weekend I am off to Annapolis to spend time with my family and catch up with friends from home. The weather is supposed to be iffy but I am at least hoping to get in a few walks downtown and hopefully enjoy a few drinks outside!

Lets get started with San Fran...

{one}
This time next week I will be reunited with these girls! One of my best friends, Angelica (far right) moved to San Francisco a few months ago and I have been counting down the days until this trip! Lucky for me, two of my other best friends decided to make a reunion out of it.

{two}
As of next Friday this will be my view as we have a private tour and lunch at St. Supery winery in Napa! We have a few other tours set up but as a first timer in Napa I can't wait to be limoed around from vineyard to vineyard enjoying the beautiful scenery.

{three}
I get into San Francisco a few days earlier then the rest of my friends and will be spending some time alone exploring the city while Angelica is at work. While to some this may be intimidating, I can't wait to check out spots like Lombardy St. and Fisherman's Wharf.

{four}
Since moving to San Fran, one of Angelica's favorite things to do is hit up a beach within walking distance to her house that looks out to the Golden Gate bridge and have bonfires on the beach. After hearing about so many times and seeing pictures I can't wait to experience it for myself! Angelica's birthday is also next Saturday and I'm pretty sure we've decided the perfect way to celebrate will be a bonfire, yummy snacks, wine, and of course the beach.

{five}
With this being my first major vacation since having started working I am really looking forward to rewarding myself and getting away. I have a feeling this vacation is long over due and I will already be ready for another one come the fall!

If anyone has any tips or places to see in San Francisco please let me know!

A special shout out to Ms. April & Christina as they await the arrival of their sweet baby girls!

Yours truly,
Emily

Thoughts for Thursday

Thank goodness Thursday is here and technically my weekend starts tonight! I love having Fridays off and its definitely something I look forward to all week, its a day I typically get my life back in order from a stressful week and prepare for the weekend! This week included more long hours and working on my final for grad school that is due tomorrow. Here's a few of my thoughts from this week...

- Temps are supposed to reach almost 90 today! 90 is a bit hot for me so lucky for me I will be inside but put me on a beach and I would be perfect!

- I did not go grocery shopping this week and have no idea how I managed to eat throughout the week based on what is in my back account.

- It's officially ice coffee season and I can't wait to whip of a batch of coffee ice cubes to have throughout next week.

- I've only managed to work out twice this week... help.

- I can't believe in just a few days I will be on my way to California to finally see on of my best friends! Tuesday can not come fast, look for tomorrow's post more about my trip.

- This quote couldn't be more true and a serious reminder

Here's to making it through the day for the weekend!

Yours truly,
Emily

Linking up this week again for Mid Week Muse with Anne and Morgan! For this week's look I was feeling comfy with a pop of color. This weekend I am heading home to Annapolis and can't wait to wear a similar look, perfect for traipsing around downtown and enjoying the beautiful weather!

Cheers to be one more day closer to the weekend!

The First of Wedding Season...

This past weekend I traveled down to my college town, Greenville N.C to celebrate my friend Kristie tying the knot to her now husband, Adam. This was the first of my friends to get married and I couldn't have been more excited to get back down South and see of many of my great friends.

Friday night we headed out to one of our favorite restaurants and caught up over yummy Italian food and a bottle of wine. Next it was off to downtown Greenville to our old stomping grounds to enjoy a few beverages and meet up with more friends.
All the girls!

We headed in pretty early for some mac and cheese and more wine and ended up staying up until 3:30 laughing and reminiscing about our college days.

Saturday it was Advil, water, and bagels before heading to Supdogs to enjoy some porch beers and beautiful weather.

After spending a bit too much time in the sun we headed back to get ready for the wedding! Kristie looked absolutely stunning and it was so amazing to be there for her special day.

The reception was amazing, from the decorations to the food and dancing... we could not have had a better time!

Somehow we even made it out after the wedding for more fun and to soak up being back to our regular hang outs.

I couldn't have asked for a better weekend spent with the most amazing friends and am so thrilled for Kristie and Adam as they begin married life! Let's hope this week flies by, come Friday I am off home for the weekend to enjoy more great weather and time with my family!

Yours truly,
Emily
