Fall Bucket List

Fall Bucket List

Now that we are half way through September and just a week away from the first day of Fall, it finally feels appropriate to break into all things fall related. I have yet to have anything pumpkin related or even break out any fall candles. Today I thought it would be fun to share a bucket list of activities I am hoping to do this fall...

1. Last year I kept waiting on our landlord to powerwash our house before decorating for fall and wouldn't you know he didn't get around to it until right before Christmas. This year I plan pick up a few mums and pumpkins for the front steps and hoping to maybe even make a fall wreath.

2. A few years ago I hosted a pumpkin carving party with a few girlfriends and I am thinking I need to bring it back this year. Everyone bought their own pumpkin, there was lots of wine and we even watched Hocus Pocus.

3. Another thing I didn't get around to doing last year was baking an apple pie. I've made several in the past and once you get the hang of it its not as intimidating as one might think.

4. There is nothing like being in the mountains when the leaves have just started to change and there's a crisp in the air. I am hopefully going to Asheville the end of this month and can't wait to get in a hike and drive along the Blue Ridge.

5. Today is the first day I am using my crock pot for the start of fall recipes and I am so excited. I love being able to smell dinner as I am walking in the door, not to mention it simplifies dinner planning so much. Tonight I am making White bean Turkey Chili.

6. Last year we threw Friendsgiving for the first time and had so much fun. We provided the turkey and everyone brought a side, dessert, or a bottle of wine and it turned out perfect.

7. Because what else screams fall but going to pick apples, drink apple cider, and if your lucky get apple donuts.

8. This is our first fall living in our new house and we have yet to make use of the fire pit in our backyard. I'm thinking a fire pit party is a must with pumpkin beer, chili, and s'mores.

9. Lucky for me I've already been to one ECU game so far this season but hopefully I will be able to get in a few more before the end of the season.

10. This one is a bit random but I think I am finally read to go back to being a solid brunette. Over the summer I added a lot of blonde to my hair and while I loved that I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone, I am ready for my brown locks back.

What are some of your plans for the fall?

Emily Ann

Patio Season

Patio season is upon us and while I don't exactly have a porch or the backyard for the set up below, a girl can still dream. We have been having one hot week here in NC, it's even reached up to 90! One of my favorite ways to spend these warm days after work is outside, drink in hand, and relaxing reading a book or magazines. If I did have a patio, you can bet that it would hopefully look a little something like this-

Five Of My Favorites

Five Of My Favorites

Happy Friday friends! Today's post includes a few of my favorite things, in no particular order but things that most defintiely bring a smile to my face.

1. The beach. I am most happy when I am relaxing in a beach chair, listening to the sounds of the waves and most likely enjoying a good beach read. This summer I am lucky enough to have a few trips to the beach, one for a whole week. When I go to the beach, I tend to be an all day beach goer and have my spot snagged by 10 with a cooler packed for the day. How do you enjoy your time at the beach?

2. Fresh flowers. Lately I have been all about fresh flowers and love how much they can add to a room. A few of my favorites include peonies, lillies, and hydrangeas. Currently I have flowers in my bedroom, living room, kitchen, and the extra sitting room and I can't tell you how happy they make me.

3. Coffee. Not only do I enjoy the caffeine effects from coffee but I also really enjoy the flavor. I've been known to even sip on a cup of decaf at the end of the night to wind down and relax. I also enjoy a good scoop of coffee ice cream now and again.

4. Traveling. There is something to be said about packing up your bags and getting out of town that can really lift your spirits. I love traveling and while I wish I could do more of it, have a few exciting trips planned over the summer and the fall.

5. Fresh sheets. This is a bit of a no brainer but crawling into a bed with fresh sheets has got to be one of the top 5 feelings, after taking your bra off at the end of the day of course. I wash my sheets every Sunday and love how much more relaxed and ready for bed I am when it comes time to sleep at night.

What are some of your favorite things?

Yours truly,
Emily Ann

Bedroom Inspiration

At the end of this week I will be moving into my new house in Raleigh, to say I am excited is a bit of an understatement. When I first moved to NC I found a quick housing option with roommates in Durham, just minutes from my new job. I am so fortunate to have found such a quick option and also to have found such amazing roommates. I knew I eventually wanted to make it Raleigh but it was just a matter of timing and finding the right house. Sure enough right before Christmas, I found my new house and am so excited for the big move. I also can't wait to be living with one of my best friends and a friend of hers that are both moving from the DC area.

Being that I will be moving into a new space, I thought it would be fun to refresh my bedroom a bit but also use some pieces that I already have. I created this vision board and think I will be able to recreate it almost exactly.

Bedroom Inspiration

Things I already have from this collection:
- Antique White Dresser
-Small White Side Table
-Antique Crystal Lamp

Things to Get:
- Area Rug
- Upholstered bench
Decorative Tray
- Sitting Chair + Throw Pillow
- Art Work

Being that I have a pretty good start, I think over time I will definitely be able to add to the room and can't wait to see the finished product.

I would love to hear how people have decorated their bedroom, incorporating things they already have and adding new touches!

Mid Week Muse: Chairish Decor

Mid Week Muse: Chairish Decor

This week I am switching it up a bit for Mid Week Muse and focusing on home decor. I was recently contacted by Chairish Furniture and Home Decor to do a product design. Once I perused their website I was absolutely smitten and am still drooling over this design. I love the mix of the pattern and colors in the Turquoise Tuft Barrel Chair and wanted to use basic gold and cream accents throughout the rest of the design. All of the above pieces can be found on the Charish website. Also be sure to check our their selection of vintage accent chairs- they are to die for!

A few other items I might add to my coffee table might be...

The Perfect Candle
Capri Blue Mercury Glass Jar Candle

A solid collection of "coffee table books"

How would you design your living area?

Hope is everyone a great week so far!

Emily Ann

Desk Space

Desk Space

Now that I am full swing in my class for Grad school, I am finding out I am in serious need of a designated space to do my school work. I easily fall asleep while sitting on my bed and get distracted while sitting at the kitchen table. I have been on the hunt for a small desk to put in my already awkward spaced room. Above are a few I have had my eye on it and honestly, whats a good desk without a few necessary accessories.

Yours truly,
Emily

Currently...

Currently...

Looking at the list above you can tell I have totally settled into a "comfort" week. The weather in Richmond has been so nasty and included rain and freezing temps almost everyday. I've been wearing lots of layers for work and wishing I had a pair of Hunters to sport with all this rain. Trader Joe's Almond Butter is being eaten by the spoonful and made for the perfect breakfast paired with a toasted English muffin. Also being that this week has been a bit crazier then others, I've settled into ending my nights with a glass of chardonnay, listening to Frank, and doing some reading. Normally come winter I am all about some red wine, however lately I've been loving a good smooth buttery chardonnay.

What have you been up to this week?

Yours truly,
Emily
