Setting A Tone For The Upcoming Week

Happy Sunday lovies! I wish I had a fun filled weekend to update you on, but unfortunately I worked all weekend. Friday and Saturday night were spent laying low and enjoying a glass of wine before heading to bed early.

Last week I was utterly too lazy and only made it to the gym once... not ok. I also indulged in a few too many sweet and salty snacks that left me feeling sluggish and gross by the end of the week. For this next coming week I need turn a new page and start fresh. My goals for this week include...

1. Eating breakfast at home or bringing a breakfast from home. NO more grabbing a bagel from Einsteins, this includes counting a pumpkin latte as breakfast.

2. I will make it to the gym at least 3 times. I would love if one of these times was a class like kickboxing or yoga but I would settle for 3 solid gym visits.

3. I will only have a glass of wine 2 nights next week. I have gotten way too into the habit of having a glass 3-5 nights a week and even though its just a glass- it wouldn't hurt me to grab an extra glass of water instead.

4. I will post 3 times next week. I have been trying to get back on my blogging schedule but I swear life just keeps getting in the way! I will try my hardest for at least 3 times!

While these goals don't seem too far fetched... they were apparently too difficult for me last week so we'll see how this week goes, wish me luck!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend and has a productive start to their week!

Snapshots through the week

This week absolutely flew by and this girl is not complaining! I wish I could say that I have exciting plan for the weekend but I will be heading into work on both and Saturday and Sunday. It's been awhile since I have worked a weekend shift but I am looking forward to the warm weather we will be having here in Richmond!

Here's a few snaphots taken throughout the week!

A new candle that has been making my bedroom smell like fresh lilac all week long

A yummy dinner of spaghetti squash, sauteed spinach, and shrimp

A fun new phone background bought to by Sweet Tea Paperie

This past week I felt like I was back in school as I studied for my first Spanish test! I am currently taking Spanish for the Healthcare Professional, in hopes that I can better communicate with my Hispanic patients and their families!

A midweek flight at one of my favorite restaurant in Richmond!

While perusing Self magazine, I stumbled across this quote that I absolutely loved.
" You are not your to do list. You are not your have tos or must dos. You are not your job. Although your first waking thoughts likely focus on needs of others and all the thing you want to accomplish, you are most important, yourself. Take time every day to remember that- even if it means running away from everyone and everything you love so you can come back refreshed and recharged. The world can wait. You shouldn't have to."

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Leather Carry All

Now that we are full swing into Fall, I have found myself wanting a new bag to bring to and from work. While looking at a few in stores and online, I seem to be drawn to big leather carry all bags. These bags are great for all seasons but definitely give off a more winter vibe. Here's a few of my favorites

Which of these bags catches your eye?

Thoughts of Thursday

This week I have a few thoughts on my mind that I thought I would share today....

- I'm not complaining about gorgeous weather or anything... BUT I would love to have a bit more "fall" like weather. Today I actually turned on the A.C in my car!

- If I eat one more Wasabi and Soy Sauce flavored almond... I'm going to turn into one

- I did not cook a single meal at home this week, other then an omelet... fail

- I had a glass of wine every night this week... fail or winning I'll let you decide

- I am officially done with hearing about the election, anyone else feeling completely annoyed of it?

- I did not make it to the gym once this week. Normally this would absolutely disgust me but this past week I worked an insane amount of hours that I'm pretty sure I will forgive myself

- I am off Friday and CANT wait to head out for a run early in the morning

- THANK goodness this Friday is pay day... someone should really warn you that the year after you graduate and are working at your first job, you will be poorer then you were in college

- I could not be more excited to head to D.C Friday for a reunion with my pledge sisters, watch out D.C!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

A Trip To The Mountains For Apple Picking

As if my weekend could have gotten any better with taking a trip to my favorite city, Charlotte, I also squeezed in a trip to Charlottesville for some apple picking! As soon as I got back into Richmond, I met my friend who we will refer to as G for the time being, and was immediately back in the car on the way to Carters Mountain!

Never having been to Charlottesville or gone apple picking, I was EXTREMELY excited to get there and get started. It was so exciting driving up the mountain and getting to see the rows of apples and vineyards! We were definitely not the only ones who thought it would be a great day for apple picking because it was absolutely packed!
Once we parked and got our bags to fill with apples, it was off to trees..,

Once our bags were full with apples we hung out a bit more before racing home to complete a masterpiece...

Overall it was a lovely afternoon spent outside with great company and even ended with homemade apple pie... doesn't get much better! Now what to do with the other 30 apples I brought home...

A Weekend Spent In My Favorite City

This past weekend I escaped to one of my favorite cities for combination of both work and leisure that left me hating waking up this morning!

Friday another coworker and I took the day off work so we could travel down to Charlotte to attend a Child Life conference at Levine Children's Hospital. We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in South Park and was greeted at the door with champagne and pumpkin cannolis... talk about a great start to the weekend!
Our hotel was absolutely amazing, I included a couple pictures because I could not get over how nice it was! It had the most delicious fall/cinnamon smell throughout the lobby and I couldn't help myself from asking what candle they were using- Bath and Body Winter Nights... obviously this will soon make an appearance in my apartment.

Saturday I was off to my conference and was SO excited to actually see people I knew! I was able to catch up with a few girls I graduated with and also some that I interned with. Levine Children's Hospital is also absolutely amazing, as is their Child Life Department!

Once the conference was over I headed over to South Park to do a bit of shopping... I obviously couldn't be that close and not go! I was able to use a bit of self of control and only left with a few new purchases from Sephora...

While I was at the store I mentioned to one of the makeup consultants I was looking for a new foundation. She immediately ushered me over to the Tarte section and could not stop raving about this the foundation and the concealer. So far I am absolutely obsessed and could not be happier with both products!

Also while I was at Sephora I decided to check out a moisturizer I have heard nothing but rave reviews about...
I decided to only get a sample to try it out because it is not cheap but would love to hear opinions on this product or a good moisturizer for fall/winter that wont leave my face shiny!

As for Sunday... it was off to the mountains to go apple picking! More on this tomorrow!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Em
